Raleigh Wedding Photography by Raleigh Wedding Photographer, AO&JO Photography
Since Eric and Jen are getting married in the Raleigh area at The Hall & Gardens at Landmark we decided it would be fun to do their engagement photos in Wilmington since that is where they live. The historic atmosphere downtown and the scenic views along the riverfront are a few of the things that drew them to move to Wilmington from the Raleigh are so we thought they would make the perfect backdrop for their engagement session. Being that they are both Harry Potter fans and had their own authentic wands we thought it would be fun to add a little Harry Potter flare into the shoot as well. We even made them their very own Harry Potter movie poster to get every one excited for the big day in October. Read more about Eric and Jen's story together below.
How did the two of you meet?
Once upon a time, in a Sears not so far away, a lonely stock-room assistant was working in the warehouse organizing merchandise. Then low and behold the double doors opened and in slow motion and a bright white light back-lit with a soft fog coming in, she entered. The stock-room attendant saw the Princess enter and was instantly captivated. He had to get to know her and so he moved over to help her look for an item she was looking for. It was then that he knew he couldn't really get to know her unless he moved departments and so, the young prince sought out his professional adviser and made the transition happen. It was then that the young prince and princess started to talk more and get to know one another and then the young prince decided to make a bold move and ask the young, beautiful princess out on a date. She luckily said yes and now they are set to marry and become King and Queen.
Tell us about the proposal
Our heroes ventured out into the downtown portion of the kingdom on the eve of the new year, where they went to a restaurant that they had shared together on their anniversary one year before. After dinner, the young prince and princess moved to a nice wine bar where they partook in the spirits and enjoyed each others company. They talked the night away until the late, late hour of ten o'clock. They then returned back home where they switched on the the magical moving picture box and watched the festivities that were unfolding in the kingdom of New York. Once the clock struck the magical hour of twelve, the young prince took his beloved by the hand and said he had a favor he required of her. It was then he bent down on one knee and held out the ring and asked for his beloved's hand in marriage. The young princess knew not what he had in store and was shocked and happy at the same time as she was beside herself with joy. She happily accepted his proposal and the prince rose and kissed his new fiance.
What’s something annoying but cute that each of you do?
Eric: I will pretend to be totally innocent and say as such in various ways and it really makes her paranoid about what I did that wasn't so innocent...even if I actually didn't do anything, it's fun to mess with her :)
Jen: She actually doesn't annoy me at all, but she does a lot of cute things. Does that count? :)
What’s one thing you’re looking forward to in your life-after-marriage together?
Having a successful marriage with love, happiness and support. Breaking the mold where it seems so many fail in today's society, we want to be one of the couples that proves them wrong and shows the world that love can conquer all obstacles. To continue to enjoy each other's company as we have for many years now and tackling this adventure we call life as a team.
What do you both enjoy doing together with your free time?
When we actually get some time together, we enjoy going out for date nights that include going to movies, going out for a nice dinner, going to various shops and browsing selections, going for walks whether it be on the beach or hiking along a path in the woods. We also enjoy staying in and playing board games, watching television, visiting with friends and family or just sitting and talking. We actually stayed at a restaurant until they closed for the night, just talking with each other and losing track of time. That was a wow factor for the both of us as that happened on our second date which lasted eleven hours and it was then we knew that we had something special.
What is your favorite memory together?
There are too many to count. I think we would have to say our first trip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. It was the first time that we took a road trip together outside of the areas we were living in at the time. It was quite special to the both of us and that prompted many more excursions out to Asheville and to the Biltmore Estate to recreate that special feeling with each other.
