High School Sweethearts do exist! Mary & Marek went to the same elementary school, middle school, and high school, but did not officially meet until Marek’s junior year of high school and Mary’s sophomore year of high school. Here is what they had to say about when they finally met...It’s crazy to think about how many times we passed each other in the hall without knowing each other or that we would end up together. We both had a mutual friend who introduced us. Initially, Marek thought Mary was interested in another person, but she was secretly smitten over Marek the whole time! After waiting patiently for Marek to make a move, Mary became restless and ended up giving Marek her number. We went on two dates and after the second date, Marek asked Mary to be his girlfriend. We haven’t been apart since!
Seriously...how cute are these two! I cannot wait to have them in front of my camera this Fall for their gorgeous wedding at JC Raulston Arboretum. Hopefully since it rained during their Oak View Park engagement session we won't get any rain on their wedding day. 🤞

Tell us about the proposal
It was a simple and thoughtful proposal. It was Mary’s birthday and we had plans to go out that day to celebrate. Mary met Marek at his house that morning and found the hallway lined with rose petals. There were several love-notes and a few small gifts that led to the bedroom at the end of the hall. It seemed like a lifetime before Mary made it to the bedroom door and when she opened it, Marek was down on one knee with the ring and asked the question. Of course she said yes! They spent the rest of the day celebrating with dinner and family.
What’s something annoying but cute that each of you do?
Mary is easily scared so Marek loves to hide and jump out at her when she least expects it. He gets her every time! She absolutely hates it, but ends up laughing about it shortly after. For Marek, he gets annoyed at how long it takes Mary to tell a simple story. It drives Marek crazy, but deep down he thinks it’s funny.
What do you both enjoy doing together with your free time?
Our ultimate goal is to travel more. We don’t do it as much as we would like to and we’ve come to realize that wherever we go, even if it’s a place right in our own backyard we always have an amazing time and learn more about each other. Whether it’s hiking, going to the Dominican Republic for the 4th time, or just driving around we continue to build our relationship and connect on a deeper level. There is so much to see and do in this world and we love to experience it together while continuing to learn about each other. We also love our laid back days where we can just lounge around the house cooking, watching movies or our favorite shows, etc.
What’s one thing you’re looking forward to in your life-after-marriage together?
The first thing we’re looking forward to is mainly just being able to officially call each other husband and wife. We have been together for 10 years and already experienced a lot of major life events together so we already consider ourselves “married.” The next big thing we’re looking forward to is starting a family.
What is your favorite memory together?
Do we have to choose just one?!? Our favorite memories are when we go on family vacations. We rented a cabin in Asheville a few years ago and made a lot of memories sitting on the porch taking in gorgeous views, drinking wine, and even watched a crazy storm roll in over the mountains. We also have fabulous memories from our trips in Dominican Republic where we went parasailing for the first time.
If you could both relocate anywhere in the world – where would it be?
Probably anywhere near water. We both grew up inland so it would be nice to experience life near the ocean.
