Hiren & Bhumi :: Engaged :: Raleigh Wedding Photography

Raleigh Wedding Photography by Raleigh Wedding Photographer, AO&JO Photography & Videography

When Hiren and I were chatting about locations for engagement photos he mentioned that their first date was at Lake Crabtree Country Park, I said "PERFECT!". He then mentioned that he wanted to surprise Bhumi with her engagement ring before the shoot and I said "YES!!!!" So all behind Bhumi's back we picked a spot at the park for the proposal to happen and waited in the woods for the sweet couple to arrive. We had never met Hiren or Bhumi before so it's a good thing there weren't more couples all dressed up at the park or we may had photographed the wrong couple, lol. After Bhumi stopped gushing over her new ring we headed to some of her favorite spots in the park to take some gorgeous images. The light was gorgeous and so was our couple. Even though this was our first time meeting Hiren and Bhumi we left the shoot feeling like we were old friends. We can't wait for their wedding at the end of this month. Keep scrolling to see some of our favorite images from their engagement session and read a little bit more about the couple.

How did the two of you meet?

We connected on 6/6/15 on-line. After talking we realized we had many mutual friends and a lot in common, including our religious views, our outlook on life, and we appreciated each other's company. Nine days later on 6/15/15, I booked a ticket to go meet Bhumi on 6/17/15. Bhumi picked me up at the airport (she was late, which became a common thing), and went to a Barnes and Noble because Bhumi needed internet so she could log in and 'work from home'. I forgot to mention that I went there without telling her I was going to be there and so she didn't have much time to take off from work. We sat and had starbucks as she continued to work till noon. Then we went to lake crabtree for a picnic. I had made lunch before I left my house in Boston and packed it in a nice picnic basket. We sat at a picnic table and talked, walked by the lake. Afterwards we went to downtown Raleigh and walked around and got ice cream before Bhumi dropped me off at the airport to go back home. After that we just connected very well and this is where we are.

What’s one thing you’re looking forward to in your life-after-marriage together?

Not having to go see each other for a only few days at a time.... Living together and being together everyday without having to worry about ‘that last day where you have to drop the other person off at the airport’ till you meet again.

What do you both enjoy doing together with your free time?

Eating pizza and donuts (from sheetz). We are very particular about what we eat and don’t eat, so when we find food that we can eat we over indulge. Sitting together and watching wedding videos on youtube to get ideas on how to plan our wedding. We like traveling together to different places.

Sometimes we don't need to go anywhere special or do anything special, just driving around together or just the road trip aspect of traveling where we are together is something we enjoy.

What are your favorite memories together?

The first time Bhumi visited Boston. It was very cold, but we still had fun walking around the city and exploring it since it was her first time ever in Boston. I can vaguely remember her telling me she doesn't want to be with me if we live in Boston….I guess she changed her mind.

The time we spent together in India-wedding prep. We spent about three weeks in India together. Bhumi flew to Boston and we flew there together. This is probably the first time we flew on the plane together. Even in India we were always surrounded with family but managed to get out and have our “dates” either shopping, eating, or walking at the beach during the sunset. Bhumi’s family lives about two hours away from us in India so she juggled time back and forth but we had our “adventures” together to make this trip really memorable.

If you could both relocate anywhere in the world – where would it be?

Hiren: (about to answer India with no hesitation and so much certainty) Bhumi: (before he answers) “Not India!” I guess we can't agree on this.
